Lures & Baits

Creek Jumper is our signature beaver lure, we call it 'beaver in a bottle.' It's a territorial attractant that works by triggering a beaver's instinct to investigate and challenge an intruder in their territory. It's most effective from early fall through early summer, which covers the majority of the trapping season. Creek Jumper is available in liquid and paste formulas. Use the liquid for general set applications. Use the paste for open water sets and castor mounds where you need the lure to stick to a surface. It's the product that built our reputation, and it's the first lure we recommend to anyone getting into beaver trapping.

Creek Jumper is a territorial attractant, it works by making beavers think there's an intruder in their territory, triggering them to investigate and confront. It's your primary, go-to lure for fresh sets. Aftermath is a curiosity-based lure designed to be used after you've already made a catch. It works with the residual scent left behind by the caught beaver and combines it with curiosity-triggering compounds to draw in other colony members. Think of Creek Jumper as your first move and Aftermath as your follow-up. They work best when used together as part of a complete trapping strategy.

Liquid lures are best for general-purpose sets where you want the scent to disperse through the water and air. They're easier to apply and cover a wider scent range. Paste lures are best for open water sets and castor mounds where you need the lure to stay in one spot, smear it on a tree, log, or rock and it holds in place. The paste formula won't wash away as quickly, making it ideal for sets where the lure needs to last between inspections. Most trappers carry both and choose based on the set they're making.

That's exactly what our Summertime Liquid lure was made for. During the warmer months, beavers often lose interest in strong castor-based territorial lures. Summertime uses a balanced blend of food lures and curiosity lures with just a hint of castor, enough to be effective without being overpowering. It bridges the gap between spring and fall when other lures go cold. If you're running beaver sets during the summer, Summertime should be in your bag.

Billingsley Beaver Eliminator was made for exactly that situation. It contains zero castor and zero food lure, it's a completely different scent profile that picks up castor-shy beavers like no other product on the market. All it takes is a few drops. If you've been running castor-based lures and the beavers have gone educated on them, Beaver Eliminator is the switch-up that gets them interested again. Billingsley Cypress Breaks is another solid option, it's a castor-based curiosity lure, but its scent profile is different enough from standard castoreum lures that skeptical beavers will investigate it.

The Billingsley Brand is a collection of specialized beaver lures that we carry alongside our Creek Jumper and Aftermath lines. The collection includes Billingsley Chips (our number one seller, agitates beavers into action), Billingsley Beaver Eliminator (castor-free for castor-shy beavers), Billingsley Swamp Master (extremely strong castor-based, pulls beavers from long distances), Billingsley Cypress Breaks (curiosity lure for skeptical beavers), and Billingsley Iowa Silver (proven castor formula). Each lure targets a specific beaver behavior or condition, giving you more options when a single lure approach isn't working.

Every lure we sell is field-tested by working trappers, specifically, by us. We don't formulate in a lab and hope it works. We develop on active traplines, test against real beavers in real conditions, and only bring a product to market when it consistently produces results. We also offer a wider range of situation-specific lures than most companies, territorial attractants, post-catch curiosity lures, summer formulas, castor-free options, and long-distance pulling lures. Most lure companies give you one or two options. We give you a complete toolkit because we know from experience that beaver trapping isn't a one-lure job.

Our lures are developed and tested specifically for beaver, but some have proven crossover applications. Aftermath is an excellent bobcat lure in chubby sets. Billingsley Cypress Breaks also attracts cats, otters, and K9s. That said, beaver trapping is our specialty and where every formula is developed and proven first, the crossover performance is a bonus, not the design goal. If you'd prefer professional extraction instead of trapping yourself, contact us.

Snares, Hardware & Kits

Our 5-foot Beaver Reaper Snares are built with 1x19 5/64 cable and mini pro locks, the same construction we trust on our own professional traplines every day. We're not reselling generic snares with our label on them. These are built to our specifications for beaver work specifically. The cable weight, lock type, and length are all chosen based on what performs best in real-world beaver sets at travel routes, slide-outs, and dam crossings. They're sold by the dozen because serious beaver work requires multiple sets.

The Snare Pack includes everything you need to start setting beaver snares the day you receive it: clippers, lineman pliers, one dozen snares, one dozen cable extensions, one dozen swamp anchors, an anchor driver, one dozen snare support sticks, two large snare and cable carabiners, one small anchor carabiner, 4oz liquid Creek Jumper beaver lure, 2oz paste Creek Jumper beaver lure, and a small roll of 11-gauge wire for snare support. At $395, it's the most cost-effective way to get a complete, professional-grade beaver snaring setup in one purchase.

Our 24-inch beaver mud anchors are essential for sets in soft-bottom areas where there's no natural anchor point, no trees, roots, or rocks to tie off to. You drive them into the mud or soft bottom to secure your snares and traps. If you're working creek bottoms, swamp edges, or any area with soft terrain, you're going to need them. They come by the dozen and are included in the Snare Pack.
